Beverly A. Rankin, LICSW, PIP, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, licensed by the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners. She has been a LICSW, PIPI for thirty plus years; and it has been her passion and joy to work with individuals on their presenting issues and goals. She has many years of university teaching, research, and provided clinical services in a variety of settings: inpatient psychiatric treatment, intensive outpatient programs, groupwork, crisis intervention for psychiatric screenings in Emergency Departments, and individual psychotherapy.
She has been seeing individuals with a broad range of issues, including: anxiety, codependency issues, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, extreme stress, relationship/marital/divorce and family problems, loss of many kinds, grief, major life changes, life transition issues, self-esteem issues, aging and geriatric issues, and end of life issues.
She incorporates various best practice evidence based therapeutic interventions techniques such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, and Psychodynamic therapy (depending on the problem/issue/goal presented)as well as provides clients with concrete and practical tools (coping skills) they can use in everyday life.
She is non-judgmental, is emphatic, offers a warm, safe, and accepting therapeutic environment. She is respectful of client’s values, and works to establish a therapeutic alliance to meet the client’s unique goals. In addition to her years of education and training, she brings life experience, wisdom, curiosity, and compassion into treatment.
