Leah LaRussa Wright, PMHNP-BC

Leah LaRussa Wright is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Vanderbilt University in 2019. She originally earned her bachelor’s degree in 2017 from Birmingham-Southern College, where she studied psychology and biology. After returning home to Birmingham from Nashville, TN, she went on to complete a one-year PMHNP residency program through Children’s of Alabama, where she received additional training and experience providing psychiatric care to the child & adolescent population in the emergency department, inpatient and outpatient settings.

Leah has experience treating patients across the lifespan struggling with mental illness, ranging from mild to acute and severe symptoms. Her predominant focus today is medication management and working with the child & adolescent population with a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges, including anxiety disorders, mood, trauma & stressor related disorders, impulse control and ADHD, and Autism. She believes in an interdisciplinary approach to treatment of mental illness, emphasizing the importance of combining multiple forms of therapies and partnering with her patients and their families to achieve health and wellness.

When out of the office, Leah is most likely to be found spending time with her family and 3 dogs. She also enjoys traveling and discovering new local restaurants around town.
