Dr. Deonna Dodd MD

Dr. Dodd was born and raised in Haleyville, AL. She attended the University of Alabama for college, where she obtained a degree in Nursing. She practiced as an R.N. at DCH hospital for a year and a half. She then pursued her medical education at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, AL. She completed her residency in General Psychiatry at the Louisiana State University Baton Rouge Psychiatry Program in Baton Rouge Louisiana. She then completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry with Tulane University School of Medicine. She then joined the faculty at Tulane as an Associate Professor of Forensic Psychiatry for the next two years, practicing Forensic Psychiatry in several different hospital and correctional settings, as well as performing duties as a consultant and expert witness in Forensic Psychiatry.

She relocated to Birmingham with her family in late 2020 and continued to practice General Psychiatry at UAB and an area private practice, as well as continuing her work in Forensic Psychiatry as an expert consultant to the Court in both criminal and civil cases. She joined Alabama Psychiatry in November 2022. She will be the attending psychiatry at the new JBS Crisis Center that will be opening in early 2023.

Her professional interests include treating serious mental illness and Forensic Psychiatry.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her two dogs. She enjoys spending time outdoors and travelling, as well as binging a good TV show
