Meredith Nunley is a board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Meredith earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 2013 and continued her education to complete her Master’s of Science in Nursing, graduating with honors in 2017. She holds two national board certifications as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner as well as a family nurse practitioner. Meredith has a diverse clinical background and has worked at Vanderbilt University Hospital and several other organizations. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, and Central Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association. Meredith joined Alabama Psychiatry in December of 2017. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based care to her patients. She has experience working with clients of all ages and with many different mental health concerns, including anxiety, panic disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, insomnia, schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder, and management of dementia with behavioral disturbances. She is now accepting new patients at the Sylacauga location.
Dr. Chili is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, specializing in geriatric and adult psychiatry. He attended medical school at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. His residency was completed at University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY from July 1999 to June 2003. Additionally, Dr. Chili completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Western Psychiatry Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA from December 2003 – December 2004. Dr. Chili’s primary practice is devoted to inpatient care and telepsychiatry services. As the owner of Alabama Psychiatry, Dr. Chili develops business interests for the company and strives to reach out to many providers of mental health services to positively impact wellness among this patient population. Dr. Chili is committed to improving the care of patients with mental health illnesses. Special focus is placed on those who are uninsured or who reside in under served communities. Dr. Chili believes mental health services are more effective if collaborative efforts are employed by using psychiatrists in conjunction with medications and therapy by mental health providers.
Dr. Amin Gilani is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical School in India. His residency was completed at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He furthered his education by completing a fellowship in Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Education affiliated with NYU School of Medicine in New York, New York and post-doctoral/fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Gilani has primarily served his patients in the hospital settings and is now beginning to focus on providing outpatient services. Apart from his medical training, Dr. Gilani devoted his time to serve as honorary Principal for Early Childhood Development Center from 2013-2015, whose goal is to give a head start to children and to provide education about parenting skills. Dr. Gilani joined Alabama Psychiatry in 2017 and is now accepting new patients at our Alabaster and Sylacauga clinic locations.
Annie Brown is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, with a Private Independent Practice (LICSW, PIP). She obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Montevallo in 2002 and went on to complete her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2007. While pursuing her Masters in Social Work, Annie was able to complete an internship at Cheaha Mental Health. She has experience in direct care, providing social work services for hospice agencies. Annie is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has experience and expertise in providing emotional and grief support. Annie joined Alabama Psychiatry in December 2016 and is accepting new patients at our Sylacauga clinic location.
