Beth Posey LPC

Elizabeth Posey is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a focus in Clinical Mental Health. She completed her graduate and undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her BA in 2004 in Elementary Education. During her time as an Educator, she obtained her MA in Clinical Mental Health graduating in 2017. Since completion of graduate school, Elizabeth has work as a Therapist within various genres of care and environments including the Bureau of Prisons and Department of Corrections, Private Practice/Outpatient Care for Mental Health, Outpatient Treatment for Addiction and Substance Use, Residential Treatment for Eating Disorders, and in the hospital setting for Organ Donation. She has recently joined River Region Psychiatry Associates as a Clinical Mental Health Therapist.

Elizabeth has a Client-Centered approach meeting patients where they are and building on their diverse set of skills including engaging with patients at an appropriate and therapeutic pace to discover each human’s unique and beautiful gifts. She provides Psychoeducation about the developmental process, trauma, co-morbidities/co-occurring disorders, and the family system. She believes connecting the formation and development of Core Beliefs is imperative to unpacking the “why” of each human’s life. She supports appropriate collaboration with Medical Providers to achieve overall care for each patient. Elizabeth works to engage her patients using the most appropriate therapeutic method, which may include CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and/or Solution-Focused. She is LGBTQIA-Friendly and approaches each human from an ethical lens of compassion and best practices.
