Dr.Amin Gilani is a double Board certified Psychiatrist, with specialization in Child and Adolescent. He serves as a Captain in the US Army and is the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent psychiatry at Alabama Psychiatry. Dr. Gilani has primarily served his patients at Brookwood inpatient unit and sees patients as outpatient at the Pelham and Sylacauga office.
He earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical School in India and his residency was completed at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He furthered his education by completing a fellowship in Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Education affiliated with NYU School of Medicine in New York, New York and post-doctoral/fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Dr. Gilani also devotes his time to serve as honorary Mental Health lead for the South East US Ismaili community. He has served as Principal for Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC), whose goal is to give a head start to children and to provide education about parenting.
