Dr. Atkins is a psychiatrist who completed his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1985. He then attended the University of Florida and completed his General Adult Psychiatry Residency and Forensic Psychiatry Residency in 1989. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has served as the Past President of the Alabama Psychiatric Physician Association. He has served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He has experience in treating a multitude of diagnoses throughout his career. He is excited about the opportunity to work with Alabama Psychiatry. His hobbies are playing the guitar and songwriting. He also enjoys gardening with his wife, Debbie.
